Yosemite Climbing Photography Scans

Sunday, April 25th, 2010 at 2:35pm - Adventure

I recently got a call from Dean Fidelman, an old friend who´s working on another Yosemite climbing book with John Long.  It will be in the spirit of their most recent book, The Stonemasters; which is an incredible book chronicling the life and times of some of rock climbings most influential characters.  The Stonemasters were a group of mainly Californians who helped define the American view on rock climbing in the 70´s, primarily in Yosemite.  Dean´s new book is going to focus on more modern times, in which I helped document a lot of notable Yosemite ascents.

Since most of my old climbing work is on slides, I spent a few days scanning around 200 slides to submit for the book, and I´m going to share some of my favorites here over the next few posts.  This first group is a collection of various routes from all over Yosemite.  Hope you enjoy!

Amazing Day on the Southeast Face of Mt Emerson ~ Adventure Photography

Friday, September 11th, 2009 at 4:15pm - Adventure

I had an amazing day on Mt Emerson yesterday with my dear friend Ryan.  Emerson is a huge peak that towers over Bishop, and has a killer almost 3000 foot face on its southeast side.  The rock quality is surprisingly good, and the climbing incredibly enjoyable.  We got some great footage to be able to make a short film of the climb, so check back soon for that.  For now, here´s a few images from a perfect High Sierra day.

Children of Light ~ Rock Climbing Photography

Saturday, May 9th, 2009 at 1:45pm - Adventure

While in Yosemite last week I got some amazing shot of my friends Sean Jones and Graham Hunt climbing a route called Children of Light in the Iota Chimney at an area called Reeds.  The route gets its name from this band of light which filters in from the outside via a big chimney.  Its such a killer location to be in this giant chasm.  It has like permanent air conditioning and remains cool even in the hottest days of summer.  The band of light helped make for some dramatic photos as well!

Have any favorites?  I´d love to hear from you.  Please leave a comment or vote for your favorites!  Hope you´re well.

New Climbing Gallery ~ Rock Climbing Photography

Friday, February 27th, 2009 at 11:37pm - Adventure

Over the last 12 years of living in Yosemite and The Eastern Sierra, I´ve had the amazing opportunity to befriend some of the worlds top climbers.  We´ve gone to some of the most awe inspiring places this planet has to offer and shared in some of the most amazing adventures of my life.

I can´t even believe some of the paces we´ve been to.  Thousands of feet off the deck we´ve been next to waterfalls, above rainbows, over mountain reservoirs, and huge chasms.  We´ve been up at 3 am to be in place high on backcountry walls for first light after being woken by mountain lion, and had to rappel for hours in the dark and cold night to be a thousand feet off the ground at sunset.

I´ve shared some of my most sacred and special moments in the mountains with friends and I hope you enjoy some of the images that we´ve brought back.  There´s a new Gallery above that you can watch full screen, and some of my favs here in this post that you can vote for if you like them.  Do you have any favorites?  I´d love to hear which are your favs.

Hope you´re well.

Wintertime Rambling in the Hills ~ Adventure Photography

Sunday, January 25th, 2009 at 11:34pm - Adventure

My friend Ryan came down for a week and we had a great time getting out hiking and rambling around the hills.  We explored some new places each day and had some killer weather.  I like to think of it as Junuary.  It seems most years here in Bishop that we get a long warm spell that always feels more like June than January, thus Junuary.  Our friend Lars came out with us one day and we all had a blast!
