I would totally appreciate it if you would take a few minutes and help me out. I would really love to know which of the following images are your favorites. If you could please vote on your favorite images I would be so incredibly thankful, as many as you love. I really want to know which if any images move you, and make you feel strong emotions. Or which captured moments you love, or which you just find beautiful. I´m trying to pick out my favorite 16 for my page on the Pictage Directory, and I´m having such a hard time because I love them all!! Thank you so much, and I hope you´re having a wonderful day.

Kelli and Steve had a beautiful wedding at The Double Eagle Resort in June Lake, with their reception at The Westin in Mammoth Lakes. It was a wonderful day with great family and friends, and couldn´t have been more beautiful. Steve has grown up coming to June Lake, and his family has a house there, so it´s a special place for both him and Kelli. They had an amazing group of people join them to celebrate their marriage, and I couldn´t have been more honored to be there with them.
Kelli and Steve, thank you so much for having me capture moments and memories for you. I wish you both the best, and hope you´re enjoying your awesome Hawaii honeymoon!! When I was in Yosemite last week, I had 6 straight days of shooting; from a wedding, to an engagement shoot, to rock climbing, to filming for a personal project I´m working on. Well while I was shooting some rock climbing, I thought how cool would it be to just get a little footage of myself hanging off the side of a cliff in Yosemite. So since my new Canon 5D Mark II not only takes incredible stills but spectacular video as well, I decided to try and get a little footage while I was shooting my friends Sean jones and Graham Hunt rock climbing in the Iota chimney, a wild chasm thats rarely visited, even though its not that far off the road.
I also included a little footage at the end of a killer rope swing we had loads of fun on in the alcove on El Cap. What a blast!!! Hope you´re having a wonderful day.

Lee and David had a glorious June Lake wedding a few weeks ago the day before the summer solstice and it was just a fabulous day. After weeks of rain, the day brought the sun with some nice wispy clouds that was just perfect. Lee and David had friends and family in from Orange County, with June Lake´s Double Eagle Resort being the perfect place for a destination wedding.
Lee and David, thank you so much for having me capture moments and memories for you. I wish you both the best and am so psyched for you! Your love is so beautiful and contagious. I see a wonderfully bright future for the both of you.

On Friday night I got together with my dear friend Abbie and we got some really cool shots of her spinning fire. It is absolutely amazing what she does, and the thought of trying to capture something with so much movement, grace, and elegance in an image was daunting; but I was stoked for the challenge.
And a challenge it was, this was one of the hardest shoots I´ve done in a long time, and it took a few hours of shooting before I really found a groove myself and started getting some images I was psyched on. It was quite a process of trying lots of different things, and then failing, and trying again, and failing, and again, and then oh wait, I think this looks pretty cool!!
It took many attempts of trying and failing before I started getting the right combination of settings; a shutter speed to catch the movement, but not too long to where the streaks would be a big fuzz and Abbie´s movement would make her a blob of light only, the right aperture and iso to have enough depth of field yet allow as much light in as possible to capture some of the ambient from the half moon we had.
It almost reminded me more of a movie shoot, as I quickly realized to capture in images the beauty Abbie was displaying live in front of me, that I needed to direct her so we could have her be still enough for 1 second exposures and within her dancing stay in a focus safe area. So we set up marks on the ground for her to be able to stay within an area I could hold focus on, and she did an amazing job of holding still while maintaining the flow of the fire. Plus we learned that certain aspects of her performance fared better to images than other aspects, so we focused on those and ended up getting some fantastic images.
First we started out in front of my cabin by the pond to get some reflections and make sure we could get some images in the first place as the winds had been ripping all day and that´s not good for spinning fire, yet it was strangely calm by the pond. The reflections ended up being really cool, and we learned a lot before heading out into the desert.
We then headed up to the Buttermilks, where we found an overhang of rock that helped block the wind, and framed the mountains beautifully while also reflecting the fire light and a warm glow back on to Abbie. Having the half moon was incredible as it gave us just enough light to light the mountains, yet wasn´t so bright that it eclipsed the stars. We were both blown away at how beautiful it was and the images turned out incredible.
Do you have any favorites??? Please vote on all your favs and leave us a comment with your thoughts and feelings. We´d love to hear from you : )

The other night was an absolutley mystical sunset over Mono Lake. My friends Kevin, Ashlee, and I enjoyed the sunset together on the shores of the lake. It was totally magical. If you look closely in a couple of the pictures, you can see Kevin painting. That night I slept up WAY above Mono Lake at a favorite place of mine on Lee Vining peak. It´s a perfect place to watch the sun rise, which came at a very early 5:20 am. You feel like you´re on the edge of the world looking out over Mono Lake. I then made my way up to Tuolumne Meadows and was blown away by the stunning refelections of mountain peaks. Breathtaking. Do you have any favorites? Hope you´re well.

This afternoon I made my way up in to the mountains above Lake Sabrina, and had a glorious first High Sierra hike for the year. It was a perfect day with a nice breeze, and beautiful clouds. It felt so good to be back up in the mountains after another winter´s gone by of being in the Valleys. I´m starting to mess around with some copper tones with my landscapes. What do you think? Hope you´re well.

Last night I went back up to the Bristlecone Pine forest with Tom Lowe and his apprentice Nilo, and we had another epic night of shooting amongst the stars. Tom let me use his extra dolly, so I was able to do my first motion controlled push dolly move during some astro timelapse. I can´t wait to put the sequence together. About 1 am when the push move finished, I then got inspired by Nilo who was doing some long exposure star trails shots. Nilo is from Spain and is 16 years old, and is having the summer of his life traveling around the southwest working with Tom this summer. So I joined him and did three 30 minute exposures that came out really cool!! Which one is your favorite??? Please share in the comments below.

I just got home from a week up in Tuolumne Meadows, and it was absoutely amazing!! We were filming for our Welcome To The Outside project, and everything went better than we could have ever expected. This is my busiest time of the year, and even though we were working so very hard, it was also very refreshing to spend some time in Tuolumne. So rejuvenating for the soul. I haven´t felt so creative and alive in a long time.
I still have 2 weddings I´m almost finished processing that I will be blogging this week as I try like mad to catch up before I go to Santa Cruz next weekend for my next wedding. For now I hope you enjoy a few images from a magical sunset we experienced while filming this week. Normally I would have shot 500 images during a sunset like this, but since we were filming I only was able to grab about 30. But needless to say, that´s alright cause we were filming one of the most critical scenes of the whole movie during a once a year sunset, so we were elated!! Hope you´re having a wonderful day!
