Sierra From The White Mountains Volcanic Tablelands & Druid Stones

Sunday, February 21st, 2010 at 5:43pm - Landscape

I´ve been getting out hiking and climbing somewhat regularly lately, and of course my camera is always with me.  So I thought I´d share a few images from some of my recent explorations.  Some of these images are taken from a hike my friend Andy and I did a few weeks ago in the White Mountains.  It was so amazing over there because we had the most killer view across the entire Owens Valley to the Sierra.  Some of the images were taken from out on the Volcanic Tablelands, where I´ve been climbing a fair bit recently.  And a few others were taken on a hike up to the Druid stones I did with my friend Shawn just 2 days ago.  I hope you enjoy, and if you have any favorites, please vote for them below; and comments are always appreciated.  Hope you´re having a wonderful day.

Thirst Relief Auction ~ Bid on Mentoring with Me!

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 at 1:18pm - Personal

Hello friends, family, and colleagues.  I want to let you know about an incredible opportunity going on right now to help save lives by bringing clean drinking water to those in need, while also getting an amazing opportunity to be mentored by some of the county´s top photographers!  The Thirst Relief Auction is going on right now and the bidding will start to close just after 9pm Eastern Standard Time tonight, so I highly encourage you to go bid on your favorite photographers!!!  Thirst Relief is an amazing organization doing incredible things to help save lives through bringing clean drinking water to people in need.  Over the years I have won 2 separate auctions, and the mentoring I received from Melissa Jill and then Jeff Jochum has helped my business immensely.

I am honored to be one of the mentors, so lets make a difference, together.

For whoever wins a bid with me, I am excited to share with you and help you discover how continuing to pursue personal work in addition to your client work can help keep your passion for photography alive, while also strategically enhancing your brand. Really I want to do whatever I can to help you in your photography or your your photography business, whether it be shooting techniques, to Lightroom work flow, to networking and marketing, to living a life still doing other things you love while also growing a business.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our business, that we forget what brought us to the business in the first place, which is most often a love for creating images.  Do you still have the same passion for photography you had when you started?  Are you still picking up your camera and going to create images for yourself?  Do you have harmony in other pars of your life as well while spending so much time on your business?  Are you working on your business or is your business working on you?

Lets talk about whatever you want over tea or coffee, or lunch, or dinner.  Or lets go out and shoot. Whoever wins, if you can make it to Yosemite I will give you a free "Day in Yosemite", personal guided photo tours and instruction in one of planets most beautiful places that I plan to start marketing this year ($500 value).  Can´t make it to Yosemite but you´ll be in Vegas???  Lets go out to Red Rocks and shoot or find somewhere else out in the desert.  I am also including for the winning bidder 10 free royalty free songs from ShawnReederMusic.com ($300 value), and my full set of Lightroom Presets ($20 value).

Thank you for helping support Thirst Relief bring clean drinking water to people in need.  Lets make a difference and help save lives, you and me together.

Melissa & Erik ~ Yosemite Ahwahnee Wedding Photography

Friday, February 5th, 2010 at 10:36pm - Weddings

Melissa and Erik had a gorgeous wedding at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite over New Year´s weekend.  It was an amazingly warm almost 50 degrees, unexpected for being in the middle of winter.  There was only a little bit of snow around, but there was a fair bit on the rim.  Melissa and Erik had around 50 of their closest friends and family travel and celebrate with them for their destination wedding.  Everyone was treated with a beautiful winter wedding Yosemite experience, magic as usual.

Melissa and Erik, thank you so much for having me to capture these beautiful moments and memories for you.  You can watch the slideshow by pressing play, and if you have any favorites please share.  Hope you love the photos!

Mimi and Chuck - El Portal Wedding Photography

Thursday, January 28th, 2010 at 4:16pm - Weddings

Mimi and Chuck had a glorious El Portal wedding with so many of their friends and family joining them to celebrate.  They are both good friends of mine, so this wedding was extra special.  Probably part of why it took me so long to edit, as each image had such an emotional value.  Mimi was probably around 7 months pregnant, so she had a radiant glow about her.  After the ceremony we wandered down by thew river, which has a special place in Mimi and Chuck´s life together.  Their home is right above the magical Merced River, and they both really enjoy spending time with it.

Mimi and Chuck, it was an honor to capture these wonderful moments and memories for you.  You can press play to watch the slideshow or you can watch it in its own window here.  I hope you love your images!!

Mt Tungsten ~ Bishop Landscape & Lifestyle Photography

Monday, January 25th, 2010 at 5:03pm - Landscape

I´ve been really enjoying going up Mt Tungsten lately.  It´s the closest amazing trailhead to my house, and the views and workout are incredible.  I think I´ve gone up it 3 times in the last few weeks.  Its not too much over a mile each way, so relatively short, but it gains almost 1400 feet of elevation, so its a great workout!!  Plus it´s an actual summit in the Owens Valley, whereas usually the summits line the Owens Valley.  Regardless, I love it and hiked up with my friend Holly the other day after a few winter storms and it was just gorgeous!!!  Hope you´re having a wonderful day.

Xavi ~ Bishop Lifestyle Portrait Photography

Saturday, January 16th, 2010 at 9:11pm - Lifestyle

I went out with my friends Desiree and Zeke to the Buttermilks yesterday, and got some really fun shots with their boy Xavi.  When Desiree called saying she wanted to get shots of Xavi, I was stoked.  Xavi and I had a great time together, and checked out all kinds of spots around the Buttermilks.  Xavi likes to climb on the rocks and run around and be outside.  I was really surprised at how mature he is for a strapping young 3 going on 4 year old.

Thank you so much Xavi, Desiree, Zeke, and Ami.  I had a great time with you all.  Enjoy the images!!

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 at 2:58pm - Landscape

On my last day with Canon´s Tilt Shift 17 lens, I got a few pictures of Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe on my way up to Truckee.  It was a beautiful day and I really look forward to spending more time in Tahoe, especially shooting more landscape photography.  I´d also love to shoot more wedding photography in the Lake Tahoe area, so if you´re looking for a Tahoe wedding photographer, please give me a call.

Dad & Lynn

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 at 11:21am - Personal

When I was in Maryland over the holidays, my Dad asked me if I´d get some photos of him and my step mom Lynn.  We went out for a walk one afternoon through several neighborhoods, and had a great time.  It´s such an honor to be able to capture images of those I love.

I also took some images of my Dad that he might use for his new Life Coaching business and other websites he and Lynn are developing. We found a train that was stopped, and climbed up on top for a unique perspective.

River Reflections ~ Yosemite Tilt Shift Landscape Photography

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 at 12:12am - Landscape

This morning I went out with fellow photographer Patrick Pike to explore the early morning light in Yosemite.  We had a geat time hanging out, geeking out, talking shop, and shooting in nature.  It was my last day with the tilt shifts lenses, and another beautiful day of spendng time in Yosemite.  I am now officially smitten with the 17, and can´t wait for the day when come together again.

Since I spend so much time in the desert (since I live there), I am constantly awed and inpsired by the water in Yosemite.  I played around with some river refections today, and am pretty stoked with some of the shots.  Do you have any favorites?
