Big Sur ~ Landscape & Tilt Shift Photography

 Last week I had the amazing opportunity to go shoot in Big Sur again, one of my favorite sections of coast I´ve ever experienced.  I was working on a  secret shoot with Tom Lowe´s Dreamcore Productions, and got some wonderful experience with the RED Epic camera and operating a Kessler Crane.  Of course I had to shoot some stills and time-lapse as well!  We were stoked to get some really nice sunsets, and as always its amazing to shoot the ocean after spending so much time in the mountains and desert.

 Last year in May I also got to shoot Big Sur, and just like last year I had a couple of Canon´s Tilt Shift lenses with me, the 17TS and the 24TS. Shooting Tilt Shift is very challenging and constantly makes me have to really focus on my composition and focus, and pay extra attention to composition.  I love this challenge.  I must also note that beside being able to shoot Tilt and Shift with these lenses, that they make insanely sharp primes.  All the images above that have no Tilt or Shift in them were taken with the same 2 lenses.  Canon´s 17TS is absolutely one of my favorite all time lenses, and is always a treat to have around when I rent it from LensProToGo.com.  I encourage you to check it out sometime!

Yosemite Range of Light ~ Timelapse Photography

  Shooting timelapse has become an absolute passion for me, as it allows me to capture the beauty of this dramatic landscape I live in and really bring it to life.  Please watch my latest work "Yosemite Range of Light".  I created this piece to show the beauty and awe of Yosemite National Park and the High & Eastern Sierra.  It is also meant to be a reel of my best work.  If you are looking for footage to license, or would like to contract me to shoot a project for you, please be in touch.


Yosemite, the High Sierra, and the Eastern Sierra are some of the most beautiful places on earth.  Ever since I serendipitously won a trip to Yosemite when I was 18, the beautiful Range of Light has captured my heart and become my home.  Nothing brings me more joy than to share this life changing beauty with others.  Ever since I became fascinated with timelapse photography almost 2 years ago, I’ve wanted to do a piece on Yosemite & the Sierra.  Now after almost two years of shooting, I´m thrilled to share it with you.  I hope you enjoy my vision of my home, the majestic Yosemite & Sierra.  Best viewed Full Screen with Sound.

Shannon & Wes ~ Lake Tahoe Wedding Photography

 Shannon and Wes had a beautiful Lake Tahoe wedding in early October.  It was an international affair, with Wes´s family coming all the way from Australia to celebrate with them.  It couldn´t have been a more perfect day, with that crisp fall feeling, and an amazing energy in the air.  Shannon´s Matron of Honor is a dear friend and amazing photographer Kacie Jean; thanks for introducing us Kacie!

Sarah & Matthew ~ Dawn Ranch Wedding Photography

 Sarah and Matthew had a glorious wedding celebration.  They were joined by their wonderful friends and family at the Dawn Ranch, on the beautiful Russian River in Guerneville, CA.  I´ve known Sarah for over 10 years.  We met in Yosemite sharing our passion for rock climbing.  Sarah is incredibly accomplished, yet so humble, so when she told me about Matthew, I couldn´t wait to meet him.  I knew he must be special.  When I met him, I was in awe of how much loving energy he radiated.  They are two of the most beautiful people I know, inside and out.  Their wedding was a perfect representation of their adventerous and loving spirit, and I was honored to be there with them.

Beautiful Fall Color

 I have been going through my entire collection of work since I started shooting over the last few months as I´ve been preparing my soon to be announced Signature Collection of images.  One of my favorite benefits of going through all my work has been to also find themes in my work, of which I´ll be starting to share over the next few weeks and months.  

The first theme I´d like to share is Fall Color.  Its such a short lived phenomena every year, but always brings me so much joy to go immerse myself in the beautiful, vibrant, natural color as the summer transitions to fall; my favorite time of year.

Lens Pro To Go ViewFinder Partnership!

I am beyond honored to be a part of a new partnership with the wonderful folks at Lens Pro To Go called ViewFinders.  They just made their grand announcement!  

 

Paul Friedman, who started and runs Lens Pro To Go, has always been a very giving person who genuinely loves helping others and being of service. It couldn´t be more evident in the wonderful spirit that pervades his entire company, as they offer some of the best, and friendliest customer service I´ve ever experienced.  They really are a family, and treat their customers like family.  

 

Paul and his team have reached out to some very inspiring photographers and filmmakers to share their experience and knowledge with Lens Pro To Go´s customers through this new ViewFinders partnership, in hopes of expanding people´s creative horizons.  Each month they will interview a different Viewfinder and share some recent stories and advice.  They will also be opening up questions to their customers with awesome prizes for people´s whose questions are chosen.

Tuolumne Sunset from Olmsted ~ Yosemite Landscape Photography

 Last night was one of those nights where the entire sky just lights up and you feel lucky to be alive and witnessing such a spectacle.  Pictures can´t convey what it felt like to be there watching the storm clear, seeing lightning off in the distance, and feeling the energy in the air.  Love these moments.

Flying High ~ My 1st Timelapse Reel

 Flying High is a compilation of a lot of my favorite shots from this past year, and my first fully timelapse reel.  I´ve become completely fascinated with timelapse photography this past year, and I´ve been able to get out quite a bit.  

 
There´s such an excitement in going out and really thinking about how you want to set up your shot, and putting so much time and creativity into the setup; & then not really knowing if you got it until you go home the next morning.  It almost kinda reminds me of shooting film, when I couldn´t wait to get those slides back.
 
I wrote and recorded "Flying High" the song recently, and had been excited from the beginning to put some imagery to it. I really love how the timelapse works with the music.
 
I have to give a huge thanks to Tom Lowe of Timescapes for his incredible inspiration, and his unparalleled generosity.  I hadn´t ever really dabbled in timelapse before meeting Tom, and his work was so inspiring, and he was so generous with his knowledge, that I become totally obsessed :)
 
I also want to give a huge thanks to Eric Kessler for really believing in me and helping me take my timelapse to the next level.  His support has really allowed me to expand my own artistic vision, and he´s one of the nicest most genuine guys I´ve ever met.

Liz & Eric ~ Convict Lake Wedding Photography

 Liz and Eric had a beautiful wedding at Convict Lake a few weeks ago. It was a perfect late summer day with a hint of storms and a wonderful energy in the air.  Liz and Eric traveled all the way from Washington DC for their destination wedding, and had a nice collection of friends and family join them.  They both love the outdoors and have traveled extensively, so the Eastern Sierra was perfect for them.  Eric´s family came up to Mammoth a lot when he was growing up, so that made it special as well.
