Ingrid and Dan met me in Tuolumne last week for their engagement photos. They are getting married in Yosemite Valley, but decided to meet me in Tuolumne for their Engagement shoot. It was their first trip up there!! It was so great to see their reaction to Tuolumne´s magic.
Ingrid and Dan, it was so great to meet and spend time with you. Enjoy your images!

Last week I shot a beautiful engagement shoot up in one of my favorite places on earth, Tuolumne Meadows. I´ve known Keith for thirteen years, and when he told me a few months ago that he was engaged to Allison, I couldn´t wait to meet her. After a brief meeting back in April when I passed through their hometown of Sebastopol, I knew that Keith had met an amazing woman. But it was their trip up to Tuolumne last week where we really got to spend some time together, and shoot their engagement photos, where I truly got to see how special Allison really is. I really couldn´t have expected anything less with Keith being one of the most beautiful people I know. I´m so excited for the two of them.

Last night my good friend Jason Lakey came out with me to the Buttermilks to climb while I did some astro photography. I really wanted to capture a climber amongst the stars, and Jason was game, so we shot a couple different boulder problems. Its really fun to be exploring the possibilities with night time photography. Hope you enjoy.

Last night I went back up to the Bristlecone Pine forest with Tom Lowe and his apprentice Nilo, and we had another epic night of shooting amongst the stars. Tom let me use his extra dolly, so I was able to do my first motion controlled push dolly move during some astro timelapse. I can´t wait to put the sequence together. About 1 am when the push move finished, I then got inspired by Nilo who was doing some long exposure star trails shots. Nilo is from Spain and is 16 years old, and is having the summer of his life traveling around the southwest working with Tom this summer. So I joined him and did three 30 minute exposures that came out really cool!! Which one is your favorite??? Please share in the comments below.

Last night I went back up to the Buttermilks to shoot an astro timelapse sequence, and while I´m putting it together I thought I would share a few frames from the timelapse. The first 2 were taken as I was getting my lighting set up, and the last one is taken from the middle of the timelapse sequence. Do you have any favorites???

Last night I went up to the Bristlecone Pine forest with Tom Lowe and a few other high caliber film makers, and we had a blast!! It was so great to just be hanging out with other creative people in such a magical place. I was able to shoot my first REAL astro timelapse, and I´m soooo excited about it!!! It might take me a day or 2 to put the timelapse together, but for now here´s a few random shots from last night and this morning. Enjoy!!!

So recently I´ve been incredibly inspired by the work of Tom Lowe of Timescapes, and I´ve even had the incredible opportunity to get to meet and hang out with him. He´s such a nice guy, and he´s working on a film called "Southwest Light", that will be very reminiscent of Baraka and Koyaanisqatsi. Tom´s work is simply mind blowing and jaw dropping, and he has a very unique niche. His astro timelapse work with motion controlled dollies and cranes is simply the best I´ve ever seen. You have to check it out.
Well the little bit of time that I´ve spent with him has completely inspired me to try some astro photography myself. Last night was my first earnest attempt. I went up to the Buttermilks about 11:30 last night and shot until 3 am. When I got home I was so excited I loaded the images on my computer and stayed up until 5 am going through them. Here´s some of my favorites.
Do you have any favorites??? Do you like the added light in some of the shots??? Do you prefer when its more subtle, or dramatic??? Please vote for all your favorites and share any thoughts and feelings in the comments below. Hope you´re having a wonderful day!

Jillian and Mark had a beautiful wedding at the Evergreen Lodge just outside Hetch Hetchy in Yosemite a few weeks ago. They had lots of friends and family in for the whole weekend, and everything was just perfect. The Evergreen Lodge is such a great location for a wedding. There´s lots of beautiful places for photography, and the whole place is inclusive, so everyone can stay right where the wedding is. Did I mention the food is incredible!
Jillian and Mark, it was an honor to capture moments and memories for you. I hope you enjoy the images!! You can watch the slideshow by pressing play, or you can see it in its own window here. Enjoy!!!

A few weeks ago my friend sean Jones came through with our friend Graham and 4 kids, Lily, M´so, Persephone, and Summer. They were finishing up a roadtrip across the desert from Colorado on their way to Yosemite. After a day at the Buttermilks, we all came up to Rock Creek Canyon for a day of playing in the creek and climbing on the boulders.

There´s been quite a bit of weather lately which has really made for some fantastic skies. Last week I got treated with a rainbow over Tuolumne Meadows. I love moments like these : )
